2011-12: Earned CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major All-American honors...Qualified for and competed at the NCAA Championship in the 50 and 100 free, the first San Jose State swimmer to do so since 2008...Named San Jose State[apos]s first-ever WAC Swimmer of the Year after winning five events (50 free & 100 free, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 400 medley relay), collecting six medals (five gold, one silver) and earning seven All-WAC nods (five first team, two second team)...Led the team with 55 individual points and 154 relay points at the WAC Championship helping San Jose State to win its first WAC Swimming & Diving team title... Set seven school records during the season (three individual: 50, 100 and 200 free and four relay: 200, 400 and 800 free relay, 400 medley relay)...Named Academic All-WAC... Part of four top-three relay finishes at the prestigious Arena Invitational (11/17-19)... 2009-10: Earned first team All-WAC honors for the 200 freestyle relay and second team All-WAC for the 50, 200 and 400 free... Named Academic All-WAC... Was a top relay swimmer for San Jose State... Was a part of three school records set by SJSU relay teams in the 800 free (7:31.59), 400 free (3:23.35) and 200 free (1:33.19)... Was a part of 14 different relay wins in dual matches during the season... Set her best mark for the 100 free at the WAC Championship with a time of 51.38...Was a part of the winning 200 free relay team at the WAC Championship.
WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2009 from Westlake High School in Westlake Village, Calif... Four-year varsity letterwinner in swimming (Coach Todd Irmas)... High school All-American, school record-holder and CIF champion in the 200 and 400 free relays... Broke the CIF record in the 200 free relay... Helped team to CIF titles in 2007 and 2009, and a runner-up showing in 2008... Marmonte League champion in the 50 free in 2008... Posted top-10 finishes at the CIF meet in the 50 and 100 free.
MARISA: Majoring in kinesiology... Enjoys wakeboarding, snowboarding, riding dirt bikes and hiking... Swam for CLASS Aquatics (Coach Steve Reardon), based in Westlake Village, Calif....Marisa Kayla DeWames was born in Thousands Oaks, Calif., on October 21, 1991.
