Women’s Basketball Promotes Alle Moreno To Associate Head Coach

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Alle Moreno has been named associate head coach for the San Jose State women's basketball program after serving four seasons as an assistant coach. Head coach Jamie Craighead made the announcement on Wednesday.

"Coach Moreno has been a part of my coaching staff for the past five years and has helped build our foundation and program's culture alongside our past coaching staff members and myself," Craighead said. "With the 2019-20 season upon us, I felt it was time for this promotion because of her development both on the court and off. The relationships she has built among athletics and university personnel and the fact that she is a rising star in our coaching profession whom I want to keep at San Jose State as long as possible made this an easy decision.

"I trust her with all things in our program and with our players," Craighead continued. "As someone who also played for me, she relates to our players and prospective student-athletes in the most professional way while still building that pivotal player-coach relationship. I expect her to rise to a new level in her coaching career and continue to help our student-athletes, our team and our program climb to the next level in the Mountain West."

In her new role, Moreno will serve as the team's offensive coordinator and will also coordinate all of the program's player development both in and out of season.

"The biggest change for Coach Moreno will be her on-court presence as our offensive coordinator and coordinate all of our in and out of season player development," Craighead said. "She has a great offensive mind and is ready to take over that side of our playing system which will allow me to continue focusing my efforts on the defensive side of the ball and create a system and style of play that not only is entertaining for our fan base, but also produces the results that we all expect from this program."

The past four seasons Moreno served as an assistant coach under Craighead and was responsible for offense and guard development while also serving as recruiting coordinator and working on opponent scouting. She first joined the women's basketball staff as a graduate manager for the 2014-15 season.

"I want to express my deepest gratitude to Coach Craighead for naming me associate head coach," Moreno said. "I also want to thank Marie Tuite and the rest of the athletic department for supporting me and helping me grow through my tenure at San Jose State. It is my privilege to be a part of San Jose State University and the women's basketball program.

"Coach Craighead has had a tremendous impact on my life as a player and a coach," Moreno said. "I believe in her vision for our players and I look forward to continuing to work alongside her. Our team is full of offensive threats and I look forward to working exclusively on the offensive side of the basketball and creating a player development program that allows our players to improve and succeed in our offensive system."
