Spartans Battle in Midweek Loss to Saint Mary's

MORAGA, Calif. – Hunter Dorraugh had a multi-hit game extending his hitting streak to six games to lead San José State baseball (18-25, 13-11 MW) on Tuesday in a midweek 6-4 loss to Saint Mary's (26-16, 10-5 WCC) in the third and final game of the season series with the Gaels from Louis Guisto Field in Moraga, Calif.

The Spartans battled after falling behind early in the game putting up runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings with big hits from Jake Maroney and Dalton Bowling to tie up the game with the Gaels. However Saint Mary’s would add on two more runs in the seventh and eighth innings to retake the lead for good. 

  • Dorraugh ended the game going 3-for-4 with three singles, a walk and one run scored. 
  • Dorraugh recorded his 17th multi-hit game of the season.
  • Dorraugh’s three hits tied his single-game season high.
  • Maroney went 1-for-4 with a single and an RBI. 
  • Maroney’s RBI was his second of the season for the sophomore. 
  • Maroney set single-game season highs in hits and RBIs.
  • Bowling went 1-for-2 with a single, one RBI and two walks. 
  • Bowling’s two walks tied his single-game season high.  
  • Bowling’s RBI puts him at 32 on the year, he currently leads the clubhouse in that category. 
  • Robert Hamchuk went 1-for-3 with a single, a walk, an RBI sac fly and a run scored. 
  • Theo Hardy went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored.  
  • Tyler Albanese got the midweek start against the Gaels, his third of the season.
