Lewis Gets Second Career Double Double in Loss at Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -
Senior forward Cydni Lewis recorded her second career double double in Tuesday afternoon's loss at Sacramento State. Lewis scored 14 points, ripped down 12 rebounds, and added two blocks and two steals in the 75-65 loss. 

The Spartans fall to 1-2 on the season, while the Hornets improve to 1-1. 


HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a back-and-fourth battle with six lead changes in the opening 20 minutes, the Spartans trailed 33-31 at halftime
  • San Jose State came out of the break firing, going on a 27-12 run in the third frame to lead 58-45 going into the final frame
  • SJSU shot 60% from the field and 43% from three in the third quarter
  • The Hornets rallied in the last seven minutes, outscoring the Spartans 20-2 to reach the final score of 75-65. 
  • Isnelle Natabou led all scorers with a double double (20 points, 12 rebounds)

 


NOTABLE NUMBERS

  • Lewis' 14 points, 12 rebounds earned her her second career double double, and makes her the first Spartan to record a double double this season
  • Ellie Boni led the Spartans with 15 points, adding seven rebounds, four assists and two steals
  • Boni was a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc, with a new career high (3) three pointers made in a single game
  • Four Spartans notched double figures in the loss- Boni (15), Lewis (14), Ella Ogier (13), and Deja Ross (11)
  • San José State shot 38% from three and was a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe
  • Sacramento State beat the Spartans on the boards 44-41

The Spartans will host their home opener on Wednesday, November 17 and face off with Santa Clara. Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m.
