Spartans Earn First Mountain West Win of the Season

SAN JOSÉ, Calif. – 
A'Tyanna Gaulden led all scorers en route to San José State's (4-16, 1-8 Mountain West) first conference win of the season in a 61-59 thriller over Boise State (7-13, 3-6 Mountain West) inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center on Saturday afternoon. Gaulden finished with a season-high 18 points.

The Spartans scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, including an eight-point scoring run that marked the team's largest lead of the game.

 

  • Gaulden tallied 18 total points, four steals and four rebounds
  • Four Spartans notched double figures in the win
  • Torres tallied 16 points and shot 2-5 from 3-point range
  • Ella Ogier scored 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in her seventh-straight double figure scoring performance
  • Cydni Lewis had 10 points, five rebounds
  • SJSU won the fourth quarter battle, outscoring Boise State 21-16
  • There were 10 lead changes in the first half, with the largest lead of the half coming at just 1:33 in the opening frame when the Broncos led by five.
  • The lead changed hands 13 times throughout the game with San José State's largest lead (6 pts) coming at 5:21 in the 4th quarter
  • Boise State and San José State were both 50 percent 3-point shooting in the first half
  • The Spartans shot 53.8 percent in the final frame
  • SJSU forced 23 turnovers
  • Gaulden dropped 12 points and Stephanie Torres went 2-3 from three with 10 points in the first half

New COVID Entry Policy:

  • All personnel with a SJSU Tower ID (students, staff and faculty) will only have to show Tower ID and ticket for entry
    • Tower ID holders are within the SJSU Covid protocols
  • Those without a Tower ID will be required to show proof of vaccination with their card, a photo on their phone or QR code
  • Fans that are not vaccinated will be required to show proof of a negative COVID test (Age 3 and up)
    • For Antigen tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 24 hours
    • For PCR tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 48 hours
  • The antigen test can include a take-home test, sold at Walgreens, CVS and other pharmacies

Mask Policy:

  • Fans are required to wear masks indoors at all times unless actively eating or drinking
