Spartans Beat Boise State on the Road and Sweep Broncos in Regular Season

BOISE, Idaho – 
Cydni Lewis and A'Tyanna Gualden each had a game-high 17 points en route to San José State (5-24, 2-16 Mountain West) completing a comeback and regular season sweep of Boise State (8-20, 4-13 Mountain West) inside the Extra Mile Arena on Monday night.
 
The Spartans came back from a 13-point deficit in the first quarter and fought all game to take the lead with 4:07 remaining. It went down to the wire, with both teams trading the lead into the final minute before Gaulden knocked down both free throws with 15.4 seconds left to give the Spartans a 66-63 edge that would carry them to the finish.
 

  • Lewis grabbed seven rebounds and added two blocks
  • Gaulden went 8-8 from the free throw line
  • Stephanie Torres was the third Spartan to notch double figures with 14 points (4-8 FG, 2-4 3-point FG)
  • The Spartans outscored the Broncos 20-12 in the second quarter to cut a 10-point deficit to two at the half
  • San José State tied the contest at 56 with 4:13 left on the clock and took the lead on a free throw by Cydni Lewis with four minutes remaining
  • SJSU had 11 second chance points on 10 offensive rebounds
  • Things came down to the wire, with three lead changes in the fourth quarter

 
UP NEXT: That concludes the regular season for the Spartans. San José State will play in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev. on March 6. More information will be announced at the conclusion of the MW regular season.
