Spartans Win Twice at WCC Invitational

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.—Four of the five Spartan pairs went 2-0 on Saturday as the San José State beach volleyball team defeated Pacific, 5-0, and Portland, 4-1, to finish fifth at the WCC Invitation in Santa Cruz.

  • Four of the five Spartan pairs swept their opponents in matches against Pacific.
  • Siena Brewster and Letizia Cammillucci came from behind to win in three sets, 22-24, 21-13, 15-7.
  • Three Spartan pairs swept their opponents against Portland – Haylee Nelson/Jaida Ward, Chloe Culver/Cheyenne Rice and Allison Pereira/Abby Alvarez.
  • Brewster and Cammillucci again came from behind to win their match.

 
The Spartans are now 9-11 on the season and host the final home duals of the season on Thursday, March 31. SJSU plays Saint Mary's at 10 a.m., and Long Beach State at 2 p.m.
