SAN JOSE, Calif. – Danny Zimmerman blasted a game-winning solo home run in the seventh and Brady Hill shut the door with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth while throwing a perfect ninth for his sixth save of the season to lead San José State (10-8, 3-4 Mountain West) in a 3-2 win against San Diego State (4-13, 0-4 Mountain West) Friday night in the first of a three-game series.
- For Zimmerman, that's his third home run of the season
- Hill is tied for second in the NCAA and leads the Mountain West with six saves
- Charles McAdoo extended his hit streak to 10 games with a double and drove in two runs, plus has been on base in every game this season
- Jonathan Clark threw 5.0 innings while giving up three hits, no earned runs and striking out six
- Corey Sanchez pitched 2.1 innings with two strikeouts on the way to his third win of the season
- Hunter Dorraugh hit his fourth double of the season
- James Shimashita had a hit and run scored
