SPARTAN NOTES: Completed four years as a Spartan...a 2015-16 Academic All-WAC honoree...a 2012-13 San José State Scholar-Athlete.
2015: Earned starting assignments in the team’s first 12 games, a total of 985:18 of field time, before injury cut his season short…allowed 17 goals (1.55 GAA) on 66 shots (.742 save percentage)…posted a 4-6-0 record…stopped a career-high nine shots in the team’s 2-1 win over UC Davis (9/16)…had five saves and a clean sheet in a 6-0 win over Grand Canyon…among WAC keepers was fourth in saves per game, fifth in save percentage, sixth in saves and 10th in goals against average.
2014: Made six starts and played a total of 514:41 minutes....allowed nine goals (1.57 GAA) on 21 shots (.571 save percentage)...posted a 1-5 record...got 1.2 goals per game support during his time in goal and in three of his starts the team was shutout.
2013: Made 15 starts and played a total of 1,410:40 minutes...allowed 22 goals (1.40 GAA) on 91 shots that reached his line (.758 save percentage)...recorded three clean sheets - against Saint Mary's (9/29), UNLV (10/13) and vs. CSU Bakersfield (11-15) in the WAC Tournament...among WAC keepers was third in GAA, fourth in save percentage and shutouts and fifth in total saves...had a 4-7-4 record.
2012: Made five starts - at UNLV (10/7), against CSU Bakersfield (10/12), UNLV (10/14), Houston Baptist (10/28) and versus Denver (11/8) in the MPSF Tournament...surrendered six goal (1.20 GAA) on 32 shots which were on frame (.812 save %)...recorded two clean sheets - against CSU Bakersfield and Houston Baptist...played a total of 451:39 and had a 3-2-0 record.
2011: Redshirted the season
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2011 graduate of Evergreen Valley High School in San Jose, Calif....earned two letters in soccer (Coach Hernan Diaz and Demba Diallo)...a first-team All-Blossom Valley Athletic League honoree as a senior.
EMMANUEL: Majored in communications...hopes to pursue a career in professional soccer...enjoys playing the piano in his spare time...played club soccer for the De Anza Force's U.S. Soccer Development Academy (Coaches Shaun Taskiris, Chris Dangerfield and Eric Yamamoto)... the son of Silvia and Artemio Espinoza...a native of San Jose, Calif., Emmanuel Espinoza was born March 6, 1993.
