SPARTAN NOTES:In her fourth year as a Spartan...Second team All-WAC honoree in 2011...Specializes in the backstroke events.
2012-13: Holds top-ten All-Time Best Marks in the 50 back (6th, 26.79), 100 back (56.66), and 200 back (2:02.75). Also holds career best marks in the 50 and 100 free.
2011-12:Set career- best in the 50 back (26.79 at the Arena Invitational) and 100 back (56.66 at the WAC Championship)... Had her best times in the 50 free at the Arena Invitational (24.49) and the 100 free at the USD Relay meet (55.38)... Member of the fastest 300 back relay with a time of 2:57.40 at the USD Relay Meet.
2010-11: Earned second team All-WAC in the 100 backstroke...Part of the winning 200 medley relay at UC Santa Cruz on (10/8)...Competed in four different events at the George Haines Invitational (10/15-16)...Had top-five finishes in the 50 back at CSU Bakersfield (1/8); the 100 backstroke at UC Davis (11/6), at CSU Bakersfield (1/8) and versus Fresno State (2/5); and the 200 backstroke at UC Davis (11/6), versus CSU Bakersfield (1/28) and versus Fresno State (2/5).
FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART ACADEMY: A three-time All-America in relay events...As a freshman she helped the team finish second in the CIF Southern Section Division II finals and was a part of two CIF title winning relay teams...As a sophomore the team placed third in Division II and she was named the team[apos]s Most Valuable Swimmer...Her junior year she led the 200 medley relay team to the CIF finals and was awarded the school[apos]s Athlete of the Year Award...Holds two individual and three school relay records.
BRIANA: Undecided on a major...Interests include snowboarding and snorkeling...Swam for the Rose Bowl Aquatics (coach Jeff Julian)...A native of Pasadena, Calif., Briana Kathleen Swinney was born September 1, 1991.
