Beach Volleyball Ends Season With Most Wins In School History

NEW ORLEANS—Sabrina Moore and Kiara Edwards picked up their lucky “13” win of the season against Stephen F. Austin on Friday to propel the San José State beach volleyball team to a 3-2 victory and helped the Spartans advance to the consolation championship of the Southland Championship. 

  • Moore and Edwards were the deciding match of the dual after SFA tied it with back-to-back wins. 
  • The Spartan pair fell 21-18 in the first set but came back to win 21-18 and 15-8 to improve their record to 13-11 on the season.
  • Addison DeMarse and Elon Milroy got the first Spartan point in the dual with a 21-15, 21-18 win.
  • Jada Hall and Randi Reeves won their 16th match of the season with a 21-15, 21-18 win and put SJSU up 2-0 before the Lady Jacks won at the third and fifth positions to force the deciding match with Moore and Edwards.
  • With the win, SJSU then played top-seeded Boise State in the consolation championship match where the Broncos prevailed 3-0.
  • San José State finished the season with a 15-20 overall record, the most wins in school history and broke the record for the second consecutive season.
