Spartans To Host 2020 Mountain West Football Championship In Las Vegas

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – By virtue of its higher composite computer average in the rankings of Sunday, December 13, San José State (6-0, 6-0 MW) will host Boise State (5-1, 5-0 MW) in the 2020 Mountain West Football Championship Game on Saturday, December 19, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.

Kickoff is set for 1:15 p.m. (PT) and will be televised on FOX. Tim Brando will call the play-by-play and Spencer Tillman will be the analyst in the booth.

The Spartans are set to make their first Mountain West championship game appearance in program history, while the Broncos will appear in their fourth consecutive Conference championship contest and fifth overall. Since the conference championship game format was instituted in 1992, San José State will be playing in its first conference championship football game, which includes its prior memberships in the Western Athletic Conference and the Big West Conference.

"San José State is thrilled and ecstatic to participate in and host the 2020 Mountain West football championship game on Saturday, December 19 at Sam Boyd Stadium.  Congratulations to our team led by Coach Brennan and his coaching staff, our student-athletes, and our Athletics staff that have stayed focused on our goals of successfully adhering to the COVID-19 protocols and creating a Spartan football season to remember. I want to thank UNLV Athletics Director Desiree Reed-Francois and everyone affiliated with the Rebel athletics program for their assistance with this unprecedented situation. We will miss hosting this game at CEFCU stadium in front of our families and fans. However, we know the Spartan Nation is watching and listening from afar and we thank everyone for their support," said San Jose State University Athletics Director Marie Tuite.
