San Jose State-UNLV Football Game Moves To Thursday Night

To shine a greater spotlight on the San José State University football program, the Spartans' road game at UNLV now will be played on Thursday, October 21.

Game time for this Mountain West contest will be 8:00 p.m. (PT).

CBS Sports Network, which selected this game for its conference network television package, remains the television broadcast outlet.

The Spartans-Rebels football game now is one of four Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) contests scheduled for October 21, is the only one with ties to the Pacific and Mountain time zones and is the one game that night featuring a conference champion, San José State, from a year ago.

Since San José State is hosting San Diego State on Friday, October 15, in CEFCU Stadium, on the CBS Sports Network, the Spartans will have consecutive six-day weeks first to prepare for the Aztecs at home, and then for the Rebels on the road.

This year's San Jose State-UNLV game also marks the second time former Spartan assistant coaches Brent Brennan and Marcus Arroyo face each other as head coaches. Brennan, the 2020 Mountain West Coach of the Year, and Arroyo were on the Dick Tomey-led San Jose State coaching staffs during the 2005 through 2008 seasons. A year ago, San Jose State defeated UNLV, 34-17, at CEFCU Stadium.

The schedule change results in San Jose State now playing twice on Thursday as the Spartans defend their 2020 Mountain West championship. San Jose State concludes the regular season hosting Fresno State on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, for the Valley Trophy.
