Stockton, Calif.-The Spartan offense was held to just one hit Saturday afternoon against #13 Oregon in an 8-0 loss at the Libby Matson Invitational hosted by the University of the Pacific.
BranDee Garcia had the only San Jose State hit, a single to centerfield, in the first inning. The Spartans stranded one other runner on base in the first inning as Breanna Lopez drew a walk. But the Spartan threat was doused as Alex Stange struck out looking to end the threat.
Starting pitcher Jennifer Ames pitched 2.1 innings, allowing five hits, six runs, five earned, and three walks and struck out one. Janessa Gutierrez pitched 1.2 innings, not allowing a base runner in the five batters faces. Alex Molina pitched the final third of an inning, allowing one hit and two runs.
The Spartans play host Pacific Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m.
