Two In A Row - 38-31 Win At Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Wide receiver Jabari Carr hauled in a go-ahead touchdown pass from Matt Faulkner with 54 seconds remaining to help San Jose State snap a 16-game road losing skid with a 38-31 win over Colorado State on Saturday.

The Spartans (2-3) have now won back-to-back games for the first time in three years. San Jose State won for the first time on the road since beating Idaho in 2008 and posted its first non-conference road win since a 2002 triumph at Illinois.

Brandon Rutley rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns before limping off the field after spraining his left ankle in the third quarter. It was Rutley's second 100-plus yard rushing game in as many weeks.

The Spartans lost some of their steam without their shifty tailback, squandering a 31-17 lead in the second half.

With the game tied and 3:30 remaining, Faulkner guided the Spartans down the field and found a wide-open Carr on the left side for a 38-yard touchdown. The San Jose State quarterback finished with a career-best 313 passing yards completing 25-of-38 with an interception.

Cornerback Ronnie Yell ended a last-gasp effort by the Rams (3-2) as he intercepted a long pass from Pete Thomas in the closing seconds.

San Jose State gained 450 yards in the win and survived three touchdown passes and a 9-yard scoring run by Colorado State quarterback Pete Thomas.
