With a new excitement surrounding the San José State men's basketball program, the 2013-14 schedule features three nationally-televised games as part of the Mountain West schedule.
Spartan fans across the country and worldwide can see the team on television at least three times this season. Home games against San Diego State (January 22) and UNLV (January 29) will be shown on ESPN3. The third national game comes at San Diego State on Tuesday, February 25, at 8:05 p.m., on the CBS Sports Network.
The Spartans start 2014 with the first Mountain West game in school history by hosting Nevada on January 1. The team then travels to Utah State on January 4 for the first road conference game. There are five home games in January, two in February and two in March. The Reese's Mountain West Championship begins on Wednesday, March 12, in Las Vegas, and runs through Saturday, March 15.
"I am excited about our overall schedule but am really excited Mountain West schedule for this season," said first-year Spartan head coach Dave Wojcik. "In our first year in the conference, the schedule presents lots of challenges for our team, especially playing against four NCAA Tournament teams (Boise State, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV)."
San José State will play an 18-game conference schedule, playing home-and-home series with eight teams - Air Force, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, Utah State and Wyoming, while playing Boise State (away) and UNLV (home) one time each.
While the conference schedule has been released, dates are still subject to change due to television obligations. Game times will also be released at a later date.
The 2013-14 Spartan team will play home exhibition games against CSU Monterey Bay (November 4) and Pacific Union (November 6) before opening the regular season at Santa Clara on November 12 in a doubleheader with the women's teams.
The team will play four non-conference home games - Cal State Fullerton on November 23, UC Davis on December 18, Westminster on December 21, and Pacifica on December 28.
