Statistics Through 36-Holes

Pullman, Wash. - Cody Blick carded rounds of 67 and 68 and is in a tie for the lead at five under par (135) after 36 holes of the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate. It is the first time in his collegiate career that he has opened a tournament with back-to-back rounds in the sixties. The team's 573 (+13) total places them seventh among the 12 schools competing.

Blick, the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, opened 2013 the way he finished last season. He had pars on each of the first nine holes of the 7,247-yard, par 70 Palouse Ridge Golf Club. His eagle on 626-yard par five 10th and birdie on 11 moved him to three-under. He came home with seven pars and finished the first round in a tie for second place with a 67.

In his afternoon round, he picked up birdies on the second and seventh holes, going out in two-under 33. His lone bogey on the day came at the par 3 13th, but he got the shot back on 16 signing for a 68 and a two round total of 135 (-5).

"Cody played his game today," said head coach John Kennaday. "But he, along with all of our guys, struggled around the greens. We left a lot of shots out there and I thought that if our short game had been crisper we would be in a better position as a team."

Daniel Semmler birdied the first hole and was at even par through five, but back-to-back bogeys on six and seven, a birdie on eight and a double bogey on nine left him at plus three at the turn of his first round. He birdied the 10th and then holed out for eagle on the 369-yard 15th to finish at even par (70) for the opening round.

In round two, he suffered six bogeys on the front side but got a shot back with a birdie to make the turn a five over. He steadied himself on the back with eight pars and a birdie to finish the round with a 74 and a 36-hole total of 144 (+4).

Justin Estrada made the turn in round one at one-over came home with two birdies and three bogeys to finish at plus two (72) after 18 holes.

His second round was a struggle. He dropped six shots in his first eight holes and finished his outward nine at five over. He slipped to eight over on the backside before a birdie on 18 got him to the clubhouse with a 77 (+7) and a two round total of 149 (+9).

Landon Polterock struggled on his first 18 holes. He had four bogeys on the outward nine, but then strung together seven consecutive pars before a double bogey on 17 left him a six-over (76).

In his afternoon round, he double bogeyed the third but came right back with a birdie on four and an eagle on the 589-yard par five fifth to move to one-under on the round. On his final 13 holes of the day he carded 11 pars and two bogeys for a one-over 71 and a two round total of 147 (+7).

In his first round of the day, Taylor Bromley carded three birdies, all on the back nine, but went out in 40 (+5) and suffered a pair of bogeys and a double bogey on the way in to finish at six over (76) for his first 18 holes. In round two he again went out in 40 (+5), but came home in even par with a birdie on 18. His two round total is 151 (+11).

Host Washington State leads the tournament at eight-under par (552).

The Itani Quality Homes Collegiate wraps up on Tuesday with teams teeing off beginning at 7:30 a.m. from the first and 10th tees. Fans can follow the action at www.golfstat.com.
