ESPINOSA NAMED WAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore keeper Emmanuel Espinosa was named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 23-29.
The Evergreen Valley High School product posted his first shutout of the season in a scoreless draw against Saint Mary's on Sunday night. Espinosa made a season-high seven saves, including one in each of the overtime periods, in recording the third clean sheet of his collegiate career.

This is the first time Espinosa has been honored with conference Player of the Week recognition.

SCOUTING SEATTLE U
The Redhawks enter conference play with a 1-7-1 record. Last week, in their non-conference finale, they lost 2-1 at Gonzaga.

The last meeting between the schools was the final regular season game of 2012. The Spartans earned a 3-0 decision in Spartan Stadium. It was the last regular season game for both men's soccer programs in the MPSF.

The Redhawks, and the WAC's, leading scorer is Miguel Gonzalez (5 goals). Gonzalez also leads the conference in shots (30) and is tied for second in points (10). Michael Roberts is sixth in the league with three goals and Hamza Haddadi tops the conference with four assists.

Jake Feener has played every minute, 857:35, of the team's nine games, and has a 1-7-1 record. His GAA is 1.89 and save % is .786. He leads the WAC with 66 saves, more than double the next closest keeper.

Peter Fewing is in his 20th season leading the Seattle U program. He brought a 223-138-27 career record into this season.
