Sonoma, Calif. - Justin Estrada birdied two of his last three holes for a final-round 72 (E), and San José State shot an 11-over par 299 in the closing round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational on Tuesday.

Estrada led the Spartans for the tournament with a 218 (+2) on the 7,103-yard par 72 Sonoma Golf Club. He closed out the final round with two birdies in the last three holes, including one on the course's toughest hole -- the 216-yard par-three seventh. He finished tied for 41st place.

"We made some good progress this week that our scores don't really show," said Spartans' head coach John Kennaday. "I'm proud of these guys and we will take a lot of positives away from this one."

After being San José State's 36-hole leader, Felix Moesmang shot seven-over par on Tuesday. He finished his first tournament as a Spartan in a tie for 62nd place at eight-over.

Marcus Potter and Daniel Semmler each shot a 74 (+2) on Tuesday. For the tournament, Potter shot 223 (+7) to finish tied for 57th while Semmler was 75th with a 230 (+14).

"I think some guys gained a lot from the experience of this tournament," Kennaday added. "The scores weren't quite there, but they will be."

California's Joel Stalter took individual medalist honors with a 13-under 203. He was one of three from California to finish inside the top-five.

San José State's Cody Blick was disqualified following Tuesday's round for signing an incorrect scorecard.

The Spartans tee it up next at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational in El Paso, Texas on October 25-26.
