College Football Performance Awards Honors Lopez & Waid

Davidson, N.C.-----San Jose State University football kickers Austin Lopez and Harrison Waid are of the College Football Performance Awards honorees for games ending the week of November 16.

Lopez, a sophomore from Euless, Texas, was named the Placekicker Performer of the Week for converting field goal attempts of 47, 44 and 50 yards in the game at Nevada. In the process of making three field goals for the second consecutive week, he set a San Jose State single-season record with his 19th field goal in 2013, tied a school record for most field goals of 40 yards or longer in a game and tied the Spartans' mark for most field goals of 50 or more yards in a season at two. He also made his one PAT attempt to give him a team-high 85 points on the season.

Earlier this season, Lopez was named an honorable mention selection for his placekicking contributions in the October 12 Colorado State win.

Waid, a senior from Sunnyvale, Calif., received an honorable mention as the Punter Performer of the Week. Waid punted five times averaging 50.6 yards per punt and had a net punting average of 42.4 yards per punt. He also had his second punt of 60 or more yards this season with a 63-yard punt in the third quarter.

San Jose State (5-5, 4-3 Mountain West) hosts Navy (6-4), Friday, November 22, 6:30 p.m., in Spartan Stadium. ESPN2 is carrying the game to a national broadcast audience.
