Volleyball Swept At Air Force In Season Finale

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The San José State University women's volleyball team had five players hit over .200 but were swept in its season finale by the Air Force Falcons, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-19), in a Mountain West match on Friday, November 29.

Mary Alice O'Reilly led the Spartans' attack with 15 kills, the second-highest amount for a Spartan in a three-set match this season. Her .367 hitting percentage was behind Sarah Griest's .375. Hanah Blume recorded 12 kills, hitting .235. Lauren Jacobsen added a .211 percentage, and Tyanna Roy hit .200.

In the opening set, San José State (8-23, 5-15 MW) rallied from a 16-12 deficit to put themselves within one (16-15). But the Spartans tied the set just once and the Falcons (7-21, 4-12 MW) came away with the 25-23 win.

San José State led the second set, 10-7, but Air Force scored six unanswered points, taking the set, 25-18. The Falcons did not surrender their lead in the third set, closing out the sweep with a 25-19 win.

The Spartans out-blocked Air Force in the match by a 5-3 margin.

San José State concludes its 2013 season 8-23 overall with a 5-15 record in the Mountain West.
