Austin Lopez Named Mountain West Special Teams Player Of The Week

Colorado Springs, Colo.----- San Jose State University placekicker Austin Lopez was named the Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for games played the weekend of November 2.

The sophomore from Euless, Texas made all of his extra point and field goal attempts in the Spartans' 34-24 win at UNLV. Lopez kicked field goals of 20 yards in the second quarter and a 44-yarder with 2:56 left in the game for the final score. He also made his four PATs as San Jose State won its fourth game in a row to move into second place in the conference's West Division.

Lopez is 13-of-16 for the season and is the leader among active Football Bowl Subdivision placekickers converting 90.9 percent of his career attempts.

Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr and Air Force running back Anthony Lacoste shared Offensive Player of the Week honors. Utah State linebacker Kyler Fackrell was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

San Jose State (5-3, 4-1 Mountain West) hosts San Diego State (4-4, 3-1 Mountain West) Saturday, November 9, in a 7:30 p.m. game at Spartan Stadium. The CBS Sports Network will be televise the game nationally.
