Box Score

San Jose, Calif.--Hanah Blume became the fourth player in school history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career as she helped the San José State volleyball team knock off UNLV, 3-2 (25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 13-25, 15-12) Saturday afternoon in a Mountain West match at The Event Center.

Blume had a double-double in the match with 18 kills and 19 digs to reach the 1,000 milestones. She ended the match with 1,001 kills and 1,018 digs. Blume joins Joslynn Gallop (1,966 kills, 1,052 digs; 1997-2000), Dawnis Wilson (1,426 kills, 1,412 digs; 1988-91) and Barbara Higgins (1,237 kills, 1,039 digs; 1984-87) as the only players to accomplish this feat.

After injuring her ankle Thursday night, Blume's status for the match was in question. She began the day needing just one dig and 17 kills to reach 1,000 in each category. Despite not starting, she came off the bench in set one and reached 1,000 digs in the set. Her 1,000th kill took a bit longer as she got it on point 13 of the fifth set.

Mary Alice O'Reilly also recorded 18 kills in the match and paired up with Michaela Leonard for three blocks. Leonard recorded her second consecutive double-double with 65 assists and 11 digs.

Other hitters contributing in the match included Sarah Griest with 10 kills and two blocks. She hit .333 for the match with just two errors. Tyanna Roy added nine kills and also hit .333 for the match. Lauren Jacobsen had eight kills and five digs, while Sydney LaFollette added a career-best eight kills, three blocks (one solo and two assists) and two digs.

Cori O'Donoghue recorded a season-best 26 digs to lead the team and added three assists and two aces. Kiely Pieper added 14 digs, while Brittney Diffinè had nine digs and a service ace.

With two wins this week, San José State has won three consecutive matches for the first time since the 2010 season. That year, the team won three against Portland State, Seattle and CSU Bakersfield to win the SJSU Tournament. The Spartans have not won four consecutive matches since the 2007 season when the team beat Fresno State (twice), Boise State and Idaho in late October.

San José State looks to keep the winning streak alive next week with two road Mountain West matches. The team plays at Utah State on Thursday, November 14, and at Boise State on Saturday, November 16. Both matches can be seen live on the Mountain West Network at www.themw.com.
