San José, Calif. ----- Oscar Crespo, head coach of the San José State University women's volleyball program, has announced his retirement from the university.
"I want to thank Oscar for his work and dedication to San José State University and coaching our student-athletes. We wish he and his family all the best going forward," said Gene Bleymaier, San Jose State's director of athletics.
Crespo completed seven seasons as the Spartans' head coach with an overall record of 70-138. This season, San José State finished with an 8-23 win-loss record and tied for ninth in the Mountain West Conference standings.
"I want to thank Gene Bleymaier and San José State University for the opportunity to be back at my alma mater and be a part of the women's volleyball program as the head coach," Crespo said. "And, I wish San José State the best in the future. "
The 1990 San José State graduate took over as the women's volleyball head coach after serving 13 combined seasons an assistant coach at Saint Mary's College, the University of California and the University of Nevada.
Bleymaier announced a search for San José State's next women's volleyball head coach is underway.
