Sacramento, Calif. - Julia Greer won the beam and the floor with her 9.850 scores and Cami Guyer's career-best 38.875 in the all-around placed her third for the San José State University women's gymnastics team at the NorCal Meet, hosted by Sacramento State with No. 22 California, No. 9 Stanford and UC Davis.

But after the team started the meet strong on bars, the Spartans' scores declined as the meet progressed and the team finished fifth with a 193.325 team score. Stanford won the five-team meet with a 194.825 team score, .175 point higher than California's 194.650. Sacramento State finished third, scoring a 194.400, and UC Davis' 193.450 placed them fifth.

Marissa Unpingco's 9.800, which matched her career-high, was the Spartans' best score on bars. Bekah Gher scored a 9.775 and Cami Guyer earned a 9.750. For her first collegiate routine, Rachel Heinl had a 9.675 score and Alyssa Kaschak added a 9.650 to give San José State a 48.650 bars score. The team score was second only to California's 48.675.

The Spartans faltered on beam and were forced to count a fall. Despite that, the beam team had several bright spots. Julia Greer's 9.850, just .250 point below her career-high, led San José State and gave her the meet's beam title in a five-way tie. Kaschak's first collegiate beam showing earned a 9.750 and Guyer added a 9.725. Rounding out the bottom three were Kiley Field (9.650), and Gher scored a 9.300.

On floor, after Jasmine Holmes stepped out of bounds in the opening routine and netted a 9.275, the Spartans had a hard time recovering. While Guyer earned a respectable 9.675 and Field scored a 9.600, Gher over-rotated her first pass and fell, yielding a team-low 8.800. Cassandra Harrison added a 9.700. But Greer closed out the floor rotation decisively and won the meet title, earning a 9.850 to give San José State a 48.075 team score.

The Spartans closed out the meet on vault, led by Guyer's 9.725. While the team did not have any falls, the remaining five gymnasts scored between a 9.550 and 9.700. In her first routine since season-ending Achilles surgery in the 2013 offseason, Alyssa Montalban earned a 9.525.

Competing in the all-around, Guyer placed third and earned a career-best 38.875, breaking her previous high of 38.675 at the 2013 Arizona Quad (Jan. 12).

San José State travels south to Arizona State on Jan. 11 at 7:00 p.m. (MT) to compete against Sacramento State for the second-consecutive week and the Sun Devils.
