MBB Falls 46-38 To Wyoming

San Jose, Calif--Isaac Thornton and Chris Cunningham each scored in double figures Saturday afternoon, but San Jose State was held to a season-low 38 points in a 46-38 loss to Wyoming at The Event Center.

Thorton scored a season-best 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range. His first three-pointer came at the 15:45 mark of the first half and was the team's first made field goal of the game. He also hit a three in the second half that pulled the Spartans to within 39-36 with 7:48 left in the game.

Cunningham recorded his fourth double-double of the year and 13thof his career with 10 points and 11 rebounds. He did not miss a second of action on the court as he played all 40 minutes for the first time this season.

The Spartans held Larry Nance Jr., Wyoming's leading scorer at 15.7 per game, to just six points and allowed him to take just seven shots. Riley Grabau led the Cowboys with 18 points. Both players each grabbed nine rebounds for Wyoming.

For the first time since January 15, San Jose State went into the locker room at halftime with a lead, 29-26. The team shot 34.6 percent from the field and were a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the first half. Dylan Alexander, making his first career start, put the team ahead with a three-pointer at 2:03. Neither team scored for the final two minutes of the half.

The second half gave the Spartans problems as the team shot just 20 percent from the field (4-of-20) and 10 percent from three-point range (1-for-10) and did not make it to the free throw line. For the game San Jose State shot a season-low 28.3 percent (13-of-46). The nine points scored in the half are the second-lowest total in a half in school history.
