San Antonio, Texas --- School-record breaking performances in the 400 medley relay and 200 free were the highlights as the San José State University women's swimming team moved into seventh place after three days at the Mountain West Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
The 400 medley relay team of Michaela McLean, Darcie Anderson, Ashlyn Acosta, and Alysha Bush started the record-breaking day, breaking the previous school-record of 3:39.45 after placing fourth with a final time of 3:38.98. Leading off the Spartans in the relay, McLean's split of 54.91 is the second fastest backstroke time in San José State history.
"We are very pleased with our performance today and we are very excited about the momentum we have going into the final day," said head coach Sage Hopkins. "We had many very good performances today, but I would like to mention our 400 medley relay team which broke our school record by a half a second."
Sophomore Riley Spitser had another school record-breaking performance placing seventh in the 200 free in 1:48.07 and breaking Marisa DeWames' previous school-record of 1:48.53.
Senior Taylor Curado and Michelle Berry each secured a spot in the San José State All-Time Best Marks list in their respective races and scored points for the Spartans in the meet.
