San Diego, Calif.-Rashad Muhammad and Jaleel Williams led all scorers with 14 points a piece, but a season-high turnovers did not help San José State at #13 San Diego State in the 90-64 loss Tuesday night at Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl.

The Spartans tied its season high in turnovers with 22 in the game that led to 33 Aztecs points. San Diego State committed 12 turnovers but only allowed San José State to score five points.

"We have to take better care of the ball," said Spartan head coach Dave Wojcik. "You cannot be successful on the court when you turn the ball over that many times."

Muhammad scored 12 of his 14 points from three-point range and now owns the Mountain West Freshman record with 69 three pointers made this season. He also moved San José State single-season list and is tied for fourth with Tim Pierce. The Spartan season record is 78, set by Robert Owens in the 2009-10 season.

Williams was 4-for-7 from the field and made all four free throw attempts. He also led the team in rebounding with eight.

Nine of the 10 Spartans scored in the game. Chris Cunningham and Devante Wilson each had nine points in the game. Cunningham grabbed six rebounds, while Wilson blocked two shots.

The Spartans did have an early 9-6 lead as the team made three three-pointers to start the game. San Diego State then used a 16-5 run to take a 22-14 lead to open up the game and led 44-30 at halftime.

San José State returns to The Event Center this Saturday afternoon to face Utah State at 5:00 p.m. Saturday is Bay Area Sports Night with special appearances planned by mascots Stomper (Oakland A's) and Gigante (San Jose Giants).
