Four Spartans Capture Individual Meet Titles With Season-High 195.775

San Jose, Calif. - The San José State University gymnastics team earned the third-best team score in school history, a season-best 195.775, and four Spartans captured individual event titles in a home dual with the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on Friday.

The Thunderbirds scored a 195.925 to win the meet.

On vault, the Spartans performed six solid routines to earn a 48.600. Anchor Bekah Gher closed out in style, tying for the meet title with her 9.800. Cami Guyer scored a 9.750, Cassandra Harrison earned a 9.725, and Kiana Gordon performed a 9.675 routine. Julia Greer added a 9.650 and Alyssa Montalban rounded out on vault with a 9.550.

The Spartans had an exceptional night on bars, earning the third-best bars school in San José State history, a 49.200. Every gymnast earned a 9.825 or higher, led by Cami Guyer's career-high 9.875, which was a tie for the meet title. Rachel Heinl's career-high 9.850 placed her second. Bekah Gher, Marissa Unpingco, Cassandra Harrison and Alyssa Kaschak all earned 9.825 scores. Both Harrison and Kaschak matched career-bests.

San José State continued to earn high scores on beam. The Spartans' best beam performer this season with an average score of 9.788, Greer earned a meet-best 9.850. Guyer matched a season-best 9.775 for third place, alongside Harrison's matching score. Gher scored a 9.750 and Unpingco performed a 9.625 routine.

The team closed out on floor in dramatic fashion, earning a season-best 49.200. Jasmine Holmes kicked off the rotation, matching a season-best 9.775. Montalban got the crowd of 681 going with her 9.700 routine. Guyer earned a career-best 9.825 and Gher earned a 2014-best 9.800.

But the four-year Spartans stole the show as the final two floor performers of the night and took first place in the event. Harrison's energetic routine earned her the second 9.900 of her season for the meet title. Greer matched that with a season-best 9.900 of her own to also capture first place.

In the all-around, Harrison and Guyer finished second with 39.225, a season-best score for Guyer. Gher earned a 39.175.

The Spartans travel to Utah State next Friday, March 7, for a 7:00 p.m. (MT) meet against the Aggies.
