Men's Golf Finishes Amer Ari In 16th Place Tie

Waikoloa, Hawai'i - The San Jose State men's golf team shot its second consecutive 287 and finished the 24th Amer Ari Invitational in a tie for 16th place at even-par 864.

For the second day in a row, the Spartans improved their place on the leaderboard by one position on the 7,074-yard, par 72 Kings Course.

Sophomore Cody Blick shot a four-under 68 on Saturday, the only round in the 60's for San Jose State in the tournament. He carded six birdies and two bogeys on his way to his 11th sub-par round of the year. He finished tied for 24th place at 209 (-7).

Landon Polterock made steady improvement throughout the three days of competition. He closed with a one-under par 71. Polterock went out in three under, but a pair of bogeys on the inward nine left him with a 54-hole total of 218 (+2). He finished in a tie for 77th place.

Marcus Potter and Daniel Semmler finished tied for 90th place at four-over par.

Potter made the turn at even par after a pair of birdies and two bogeys on his opening nine holes. However, he was three-over when he reached the clubhouse and finished the day with a 75 (+3) and a three-round total of 220.

Semmler was three-over after four holes, but picked up two birdies and made the turn at one-over par. He bogeyed back-to-back holes early on his second nine, but rebounded with a pair of birdies on his 17th and 18th holes for a one-over 71 and a 220 total for the tournament.

Felix Möesmang was at one-under par through seven holes, but couldn't maintain his momentum and finished with a 75, three-over par. He concluded the tournament with a 226 total and tied for 111th place.

The Oklahoma State led the team competition wire-to-wire and finished at 45-under par. They were 12 strokes better that second place Washington.

The Cowboys Jordan Niebrugge shot the round of the day, a seven-under 65 and vaulted from seventh place to individual medalist honors. His 54-hole total of 200 (-16) was a shot better than Southern California's Jeffrey Kang.
