San José, Calif. --- The San José State University women's tennis team defeated Southern Utah University, 4-0, and Youngstown State, 4-3, in doubleheader non-conference dual matches.
The San José State (7-8) doubles teams of Julianna Bacelar and Jessica Willett and Sabastiani Leon Chao each went undefeated in doubles play against Southern Utah (3-3) and Youngstown State (5-8).
In doubles, Bacelar and Willett topped the Southern Utah's doubles team of Anastasiia Vasilivas and Madeline Skaras, 8-0. The duo later teamed up against Youngstown State, defeating Carolyn Jesko and Annina Brendel, 8-3.
Playing at the #3 doubles position, Leon Chao and Deleval paired up to beat Evgenia Marushko and Sarah Lundin of Southern Utah, 8-3, and later defeated Sohni and Lackova of Youngstown State, 8-6.
Playing at the #6 spot, Delelval won both of her singles matches in straight sets. In the match against Southern Utah, Deleval defeated Sarah Skaras, 6-0, 6-2. She later defeated Youngstown State's Gimena Puppo, 6-0, 6-0.
Other winners for the Spartans were freshman Marie Klocker and Tipper Truong against the Thunderbirds, and Gaelle Rey and Willett against the Penguins.
The Spartans are back on the court Sunday, March 16, as the Spartans compete in a doubleheader against Tulsa and Dartmouth. Play begins 10:00 a.m. (PT) and 3:00 p.m. (PT), respectively, at the Spartan Tennis Complex.
