Las Vegas, Nev. - The San Jose State men's basketball team missed their first eight shots from the floor and didn't score their first point, a free throw, against the Boise State Broncos until 10:56 was left in the first half. By that point Boise State had made 8-of 13 shots, built a 25-1 lead and cruised to an 83-52 win in the opening round of the 2014 Reese's Mountain West Men's Basketball Championship.

The 11th seed Spartans suffered their worst shooting half of the season, making just 4-of-27 shot attempts (14.8 percent) and had more made free throws, six, than field goals in the first 20 minutes. Boise State shot 62 percent (18-of-29) for the half, 52 percent for the game (29-of-56), and led 46-14 at intermission.

The Spartans led in the rebounding battle 45-to-31, including 20-to-7 on the offensive glass, which was also the difference in second chance points, 20-7 in San José State's favor.

Boise State, the six seed, used a full court press throughout most of the game, forcing 17 turnovers and converting them in to 21 points.

The 31-point defeat was the largest for the Spartans this year.
