Davis, Calif. - Julia Greer was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Year and seven gymnasts garnered All-Conference honors at the MPSF Women's Gymnastics Championships. The San José State University women's gymnastics team earned a third-place 194.550 finish on Saturday.

Sacramento State won the Championships with a season-high 195.650 and UC Davis finished second scoring a 194.875. Seattle Pacific (194.075), Air Force (193.650) and Alaska Anchorage (192.200) rounded out the competition.

Greer was named the 2014 MPSF Gymnast of the Year after winning 10 individual event titles over the season. The 2011 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Freshman of the Year was an MPSF-best Specialist of the Week five times, scoring a 9.825-or-higher on floor in every meet this season. Greer also earned additional All-MPSF selections on beam and floor.

Six Spartans collected All-MPSF honors. Cami Guyer was an All-MPSF selection in every event, Bekah Gher earned All-MPSF honors on vault, beam and in the all-around, Cassandra Harrison was a bars, floor and all-around All-MPSF honoree, Kiana Gordon was an All-MPSF pick on vault and Marissa Unpingco garnered All-MPSF honors on bars.

The Championships started off shaky for the Spartans on bars. The team was forced to count a fall for the first time in any rotation this season, scoring a season-low 47.900. Despite the low mark, Cami Guyer and Bekah Gher led the team, each scoring a 9.750, while Cassandra Harrison scored a 9.725 and Marissa Unpingco recorded a 9.700.

The Spartans recovered on beam, their second rotation of the night. Guyer, Alyssa Kaschak and Harrison all earned 9.775 scores. Anchor Julia Greer earned a team-best 9.800 to help San José State to a 48.825 score.

San José State continued to improve on floor. Five of six gymnasts earned a 9.700 or higher, with Greer, as she has done in all but one meet this season, leading the team. She scored a 9.850 for her 12th-straight floor score above-9.825. Seniors Harrison and Gher earned respective 9.825 and 9.700 scores. Guyer also scored a 9.700, while Kiley Field earned a 9.675.

The Spartans closed out the meet in heart-pumping fashion, posting the third-best score in program history and tying a season-best 48.950. Hannah Gilbert kicked off the rotation with the best performance of her career, scoring a 9.850, which Gher matched. Greer also had a career showing, matching her San José State-high 9.775. Harrison added a 9.800, and Guyer scored a 9.675.

Competing in the all-around, Harrison's 39.125 gave her second, while Gher's 39.000 was good enough for third.
