Kapalua, Maui--Spartan women's golfer Megan Osland shot her second under-par round of the tournament and finished tied for sixth at three-over 219 Wednesday at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at The Bay Course in Kapalua, Maui. San José State finished the tournament in fourth place at 899.

For the second time in three rounds, Osland shot her best round of the season with a 69. Starting the round on hole five, Osland was never over par for her round, starting with six consecutive pars before a birdie on the par-3 #12. After a bogey on #13 brought her back to even, she then birdied #15, #1 and #5 to finish her round at three-under par.

Osland's sixth-place finish is the highest of her Spartan career and the fifth time this spring that a San José State player has finished in the top-10 of a tournament. Her 69 is only the third time in her three-year Spartan career that she recorded a round in the 60s.

"Megan was our story today," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "The key to her round today was she putted well. On the difficult hole #5, she hit her 8-iron to within five feet of the hole and tapped in for birdie to finish her round.

"Megan is a talented player that needs to trust her talent and not analyze every missed shot. She did that today with her 69."

Kathleen Rojas finished the tournament tied for 21st after shooting a 79 on Wednesday and ending the tournament with a 227. Rachelle Reali and Regan De Guzman each shot a 77 in her final round. Reali finished tied for 29th at 229, while De Guzman tied for 34th at 230. My Leander had her best round of the tournament with a 73 and finished tied for 37th at 231.

The Spartans matched the team's first round with a 296 on Wednesday to finish fourth at 899, five shots better than Mississippi and 10 shots better than #49 Colorado.

"This was a positive finish for us in helping getting our confidence back as we move toward the end of the season," said Dormann.

Playing as individuals, Alexandra Kristofersson shot a 79 and tied with De Guzman for 34th at 230. Stephanie Gibri tied for 81st with a 245 after shooting an 82 in the third round. Kim Cifuentes recorded a 77 to finish 84th at 246, while Ann Sabater was 87th at 251 with a 78 on Wednesday.

San José State next plays at the Silverado Showdown, April 14 & 15.
