For the second week in a row, the #10-San Jose State University women's water polo team takes on a top-five nationally ranked opponent in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) match when the Spartans face the University of California. The March 8 contest has a 1:00 p.m. start time at the Spieker Aquatic Complex.

San Jose State (13-8, 0-1 MPSF) looks to get back in the win column after a 16-9 loss to #3-Stanford in the opener for both teams. The Spartans' nine goals are the most scored by a San Jose State team against Stanford.

#4-Cal (13-3, 0-0 MPSF) seeks to end a two-match losing streak after finishing fourth at the 16-team UC Irvine Invitational two weekends ago. The Golden Bears did not have a match the weekend of March 1 & 2.

Saturday's contest will be the second meeting of these teams this season. Cal edged the Spartans, 9-8, in a February 1 match during the Stanford Invitational.
