Napa, Calif.--Regan De Guzman shot a 67 for the second time in her Spartan career and ended the day in second place at six-under 138 at the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort & Spa North Course Monday. She and the San José State women's golf team finished the day tied for sixth with Oregon at 594.

De Guzman was the leader after the first round with her five-under 67. It was just the 10th time in school history that a Spartan has shot a 67 in a tournament. The last time, De Guzman recorded a 67 in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga., to lead the tournament after the first day.

De Guzman recorded seven birdies in her round of 67. Starting the round on #9, she went par, bogey, birdie, bogey before three straight pars to be +1 after six holes. She then made three consecutive birdies on #16 (par 5), #17 (par 4) and #18 (par 5) to go to -2. Over her final eight holes (#1-8), she made birdies on #5 (par 5, 502 yards), #7 (par 3) and #8 (par 4) and pars on the other five holes.

In the second round, De Guzman was even through the first 11 holes, making a bogey on #12, a birdie on #16 and pars on #17, #18 and #1. Then, De Guzman made four consecutive birdies on #2-5 before a bogey on #6 and a double bogey on #8 led to her 71.

After two rounds, De Guzman is second to Lindsey Weaver from Arizona who shot 69-67 and is eight-under at 136. Nine players shot under par for the two rounds.

"Regan's first round was phenomenal," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "Today she played the way Regan is capable of playing. It is good to see her playing this way after the injuries and emotional struggles she has fought through this year."

The Spartans shot a 298 in the first round and 296 in the second round to tie with Oregon. The team is four shots from fifth-place Arizona and 13 shots behind leader Washington.

My Leander is tied for 33rd at 150 after shooting 75-75. She made two birdies in her first round. Her second round found her making pars on 15 of her 18 holes.

Megan Osland is tied for 41st at 152 at 76-76. She started both rounds on #8 and was +2 after 11 holes in each round. She made one birdie in her first round and three in the second round.

Rachelle Reali and Kathleen Rojas each shot a 156 and are tied for 53rd. Reali bounced back in the second round with a 74 after shooting an 82 in round one. Rojas also improved four strokes from her 80 in round one to 76 in round two.

"We played smart today on this difficult course," said Dormann. "The pin placement was difficult today as some of the members told me they had never seen them there before. We played with a good attitude and energy today and kept fighting. We were hitting the ball really good from tee to green and our short game was much improved."

Final round action of the Silverado Showdown begins Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The Spartans will begin from holes #5-7, playing with Northwestern and Arizona.
