Colorado Springs, Colo.--After her second fourth-place finish in a month, San José State women's golfer Regan De Guzman has been selected as the Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week for her performance at the Silverado Showdown on April 14-15.
De Guzman finished fourth at the tournament with a five-under 211 on the par-72 course. Her opening round 67 tied for the lowest round of the tournament and gave De Guzman the first-round lead. It was only the 10th time in school history that a Spartan recorded a 67 in a tournament.
De Guzman tied for third in the field with 13 birdies including seven in her first round. She bested 24 other Mountain West competitors in a field that included 15 teams, five from the conference.
De Guzman is the team leader and third in the conference with a 73.71 stroke average. She and the Spartans are preparing to play at the 2014 Mountain West Championship next week, April 24-26, on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
