San José State University's director of athletics Gene Bleymaier and deputy director of athletics Marie Tuite will be two of the featured speakers at the 2014 Bay Area Collegiate Athletics Mentoring Day.
Santa Clara University is hosting the free one-day event, Tuesday, April 29, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the California Mission Room and the Benson Center.
Besides Bleymaier and Tuite, there will be panelists and speakers from the University of California, Stanford University, the University of San Francisco, Saint Mary's College, host Santa Clara University, the University of the Pacific, the West Coast Conference and the Pacific-12 Conferences.
Moving up in the profession, managing one's career and work/life balancing are among the presentations aimed at those interested in a career working in college athletics.
Heading into his third season with the Spartans, Bleymaier is one of the nation's most experienced NCAA Division I athletics directors among the 125 Football Bowl Subdivision members. He joined the Spartans in 2012 after 30 years at Boise State.
Tuite is nearing the completion of her fourth year at San José State. Her college athletics professional experiences of more than 30 years include senior-level administrative positions with Alma College, the University of California and the University of Washington and the NCAA as an assistant director of championships.
