New York, N.Y.----- San Jose State University's record-setting quarterback David Faleswas selected by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2014 National Football League draft.
Fales was the 183rd overall selection. (A conference call with the Chicago media is available here.)
He becomes the first San Jose State quarterback selected in a NFL draft in 26 years and the seventh Spartan signal caller chosen since the league began selecting college players in 1936.
Fales' journey first to San José State and now to the Chicago started at Palma High in Salinas, continued at the University of Nevada, Monterey Peninsula College and the University of Wyoming in a non-playing capacity.
The San Jose State record book is filled with his name from two highly-productive and winning seasons. The Spartans were 17-8 overall, finished 2012 ranked 21st nationally and 24th in the Bowl Championship Series standings, and were 5-3 in their first season playing in the Mountain West Conference.
He completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 8,382 yards and 66 touchdowns even divided between his two San Jose State seasons. He owns or shares 25 school records and three Mountain West Conference individual standards.
The December 2013 graduate majored in psychology and went to become the first San Jose State quarterback to play in a Senior Bowl all-star game in Mobile, Ala.
