Anderson Named To Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team

San Jose, Calif. - For the third time in as many years, San José State women's swimmer Darcie Anderson has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII Women's At-Large Team for 2014. Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) are the voters.

Anderson, a senior from Willows, Calif., advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month. To be nominated, a student-athlete must have a 3.30 or better grade point average and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.

She amassed 14 race wins in 2013-14 including team's fastest times in the 100 & 200 Breaststroke, 200 Individual Medley and the 200 & 400 Medley Relay. At the Mountain West Championship she garnered All-Mountain West honors in 100 & 200 Breaststroke.

A kinesiology major, Anderson is a both a two-time President's Scholar for achieving a 4.0 for two of her three semesters. She is a three-time Academic all-conference honoree and a San José State Scholar Athlete. In 2012, she was also a CSCAA Scholar All America Honorable Mention honoree.
