Eugene, Ore. - With his second 74 in as many days, San José State men's golfer Cody Blick climbed seven spots on the leader board and concluded the 2014 NCAA West Region Golf Championship in a tie for 39th place with a 54-hole total of 224 (+14).

Blick started his round on the 10th hole of the 6,990-yard par 70 Eugene (Ore.) Country Club and pared his first four holes. He ran into trouble with back-to-back bogeys on the 14th and 15th, a pair of 405-yard and 440-yard par4s. He dropped another stroke on the 17th, his eighth hole of the day, and made the turn at three-over par.

He got a stroke back with a birdie on the 395-yard par 4 first, pared the next five holes and was at two-under through 15. However, on two if his final three holes, Blick bogeyed and finished the day at four-over par (74).

Blick's 39th place finish is the best of his collegiate career. A sophomore, he competed in the NCAA West Regional, in Tempe, Ariz., last year coming in 50th place.

Stanford won the team championship with an 853 (+13) total. Oregon (854), Oklahoma (860), Houston (875) and South Carolina (880) will join the Cardinal in advancing to the 2014 NCAA Men's Golf Championships, May 23-28 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.

The low individual, not on one of the five advancing team, is Chattanooga's Chris Robb who earned his spot at Prairie Dunes after winning a playoff. He finished 54 holes with a 212 (+2) total.
