The 4th annual Spartan Bocce Battle held on Sunday, April 27, was a tremendous success and another Spartan Foundation event to remember.

Over $40,000 was raised for the Spartan Foundation to support San Jose State football scholarships.

"Thank You" to Steve Mariucci, the Mariucci Family Foundation, the John Pochfamily and the Spartan Football staff, for creating a memorable experience for men and women investing in future San Jose State Spartans to pursue their college dreams.

From the pizzas & antipasto, the bocce courts to the Italian dinner, everyone enjoyed a sun-filled afternoon with the San Jose State football staff at the Poch family residence.

Twelve teams participated in a sun-drenched afternoon that included pizzas & antipasto, crafty and skilled play on the bocce courts, an Italian dinner and a lively, spirited auction.

The afternoon's keynote speaker was quarterback David Fales, who is awaiting the outcome of the upcoming National Football League (NFL) draft that takes place May 8 through 10 in New York.

Frank Sunseri, served as this year's auctioneer and kept everyone engaged raising dollars in a lively and spirited auction.

Additional contributors included Madorom Wines, Gordon-Biersch, Caffe Frascatti's remarkable espresso cart, CB Hannegan's, Bill the Oyster Man and our many volunteers.

John Kirkorian's Skillz That Killz team, won this year's championship defeating Michael Benito's Bocce Bankers, 10-8, in a closely-contested match that was up-for-grabs at many points.

Thank you to everybody for their generous contributions that made the 2014 Bocce Battle a fun event for all.

Grazie!
