Indianapolis, Ind. - For the second time in as many year's, San José State University men's golfer Cody Blick has earned a invitation to play as an individual in the NCAA Men's Golf Regional Championship. He will compete May 15-17 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
Blick, a sophomore from Danville, Calif., won two tournaments this year, his first two as a collegiate, and was named a first-team All-Mountain West performer. His 70.76 stroke average was tops on the team, lowest the conference and the best in for a Spartan in records dating back to the 1998-99 season. In 10 starts this year, he has six top-10 finishes and four times he has finished in the top-4.
Blick, ranked 16th in the nation according to Golfstat as of April 26, has had success at Eugene Country Club in the past. In 2013, he finished in a tie for second at the University of Oregon's Duck Invitational. After his freshman campaign he competed as an individual in the 2013 NCAA Men's Golf Regional Championship in Tempe, Ariz., finishing in 50th place.
Blick is one of 10 individuals, and the top-seed, competing at the Eugene Regional along with 13 teams that qualified for the event. The low individual after the three rounds, not on an advancing team, will qualify for the 2014 NCAA Men's Golf Championships, May 23-28 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
