Cle Elum, Wash.-On a cold, windy and rainy day, San José State women's golfer Regan De Guzman did not make a birdie during her round and made 10 pars as she shot an 80 and is tied for 69that 12-over 156 after two rounds of the NCAA West Regional.
Starting on #10 at the Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort, De Guzman started the day with a par before back-to-back bogeys on #11 and #12 found her at +2 after three holes. She then recovered with pars on five of the next holes, with a bogey on #15, and finished +3 after her first nine holes.
After the turn, De Guzman made bogeys on five of her next six holes, her only par on the par-5 #4, and finished the round with three consecutive pars. She finished the round with an 80 and is +12 for the tournament.
Top-ranked Southern California is tied with Arizona State for the lead at 578. Trojan Kyung Kim and Washington's SooBin Kim are tied for the lead on the individual leader board at four-under 140. The top-eight teams and top-two individuals (not on an advancing team) will advance to the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship, May 20-23, in Tulsa, Okla.
Final round action begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. De Guzman begins her round at 8:25 a.m. off of #10.
