Espar Llaquet & Molnar Named Water Polo All-Americans

June 17, 2014

Colorado Springs, Colo.----- San Jose State University freshman Clara Espar Llaquet and junior Timi Molnar were named to the 2014 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-American teams.

Espar Llaquet, the leading scorer in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), was a second-team selection. Her 96 goals also were a San Jose State single-season scoring record and the sixth best total in MPSF history.

Espar Llaquet is the fourth Spartan to be on a women's water polo All-American team as a freshman and the highest achieving one of the four. She joins Juliet Moss (2009) as the only San Jose State players to be a second-team All-American in women's water polo.

Molnar, one of two co-captains for the Spartans that finished seventh in the final national rankings, was an honorable mention choice for the third time in her career. She finished the season with 50 goals - the third time in her career the Budapest, Hungary native scored 50 or more goals in a season.

The selections of Espar Llaquet and Molnar mark the seventh consecutive year at least two Spartans received All-American recognition in women's water polo and the fourth time a San Jose State player was a first or second-team All-American.

San Jose State finished the 2014 season with a 20-13 win-loss record.
