Complete Capital One Academic All-America® At-Large Teams

San Jose, Calif.--San José State University women's swimmer Darcie Anderson has been selected to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I At-Large second team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A recent summa cum laude graduate, Anderson received her bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a 3.983 grade point average. She served as the Vice President of the Pre-Occupational Therapy Club this past school year. Anderson was a two-time President's Scholar, three-time academic all-conference honoree and a San Jose State Scholar Athlete. In 2012, she was also a CSCAA Scholar All America Honorable Mention honoree.

"I am thrilled to earn this award," said Anderson. "I put in a lot of work in the classroom and in the water. That hard work paid off with this award. Our coach (Sage Hopkins) encourages strong academics from everyone on the team. `You are going to school for academics, not just athletics.'"

In the pool, Anderson, a breaststroke specialist, won 14 races in 2013-14. She garnered All-Mountain West honors in the 100 and 200 breaststroke in 2014 and was a 12-time all-conference award winner during her career. Anderson competed at the 2012 United States Olympic Trials.

"I am thrilled with the news of Darcie's selection," said Spartan head coach Sage Hopkins. "Darcie has been the model student-athlete for her four years at San José State, and we are very proud of her accomplishments athletically and academically. Her leadership in the pool and in the classroom has made a profound mark on her teammates and coaches. I am excited to watch how the next chapter of her life unfolds."

The at-large team for the Capital One Academic All-America® women's program includes the sports of bowling, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse rifle, rowing skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.
