Softball's Jenner Named To Team Canada

Chelsea Jenner, an outfielder on the San José State women's softball team, has been named to Softball Canada's Senior Women's National Team and will participate in two international competitions in the next three weeks.

Jenner, who will be a sophomore in the 2014-15 academic year, is one of 19 athletes representing Canada at the World Cup of Softball IX on July 7-13 in Irvine, Calif. Canada is one of eight teams participating in the 32-game, International Softball Federation (ISF) event which takes place in Deanna Manning Stadium at Bill Barber Park.

The following week she returns home to compete in the Canadian Open Fastpitch Women's International Championship in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada on July 15-21. The competition will feature the world's top national teams as they continue in their development for international competition.

International competition in nothing new to Jenner, she was a member of Team Canada, which competed in the 2013 ISF Junior Women's World championships. She also played on Canada's Senior Women's Team, which competed in the 2012 Canadian Open.

Jenner made 21 starts and 40 total appearances for the San José State in 2014. She scored six runs, had three doubles, was 2-for-2 in stolen bases while hitting .225 in 71 at-bats.
