Davidson, N.C.----- Sophomore Christian Tago, the top returning tackler from last season's San Jose State University football team, is one of 40 players named to the 2014 College Football Performance Awards Watch List for linebackers.

Tago was credited with 90 tackles in the 11 games he played for the Spartans in 2013. Three times, he was in on 10 or more tackles including a season-high 12 in the Colorado State win. He led the team and was tenth in the Mountain West Conference with 10.5 tackles for loss and shared the top spot on the squad with 4.0 quarterback sacks.

The San Jose State returning starter is the first to receive 2014 preseason recognition from the College Football Performance Awards group.

Now in its seventh year, the College Football Performance Awards program prides itself on using the most scientifically rigorous measurements to select its weekly and yearly award winners. Performance is measured to the extent a player increases the overall effectiveness of his team.

In 2013, San Jose State players were recognized 19 times during the season by the College Football Performance Awards program.
