San José State University Sports Hall of Fame member Bob Ladouceur will be the featured speaker prior to an August 19 viewing of the new motion picture, "When the Game Stands Tall," at the Camera 12 Cinemas in downtown San Jose.
The movie tells the story of the highly-successful De La Salle High School football program of Concord, Calif., led by Ladouceur from 1979 through the 2012 season. The Spartans won 399 games, boasted a .934 winning percentage, captured 17 state championships and were named national champions seven times.
Ladouceur finished his college football playing days at San José State as a defensive back on the 1975 and 1976 teams.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Coach Ladouceur will recount his life at San José State, his coaching career and philosophy and discuss the movie prior to the 7:00 p.m. showing.
All San Jose State students, student-athletes, coaches and staff are invited to hear head Coach Ladouceur and watch the movie prior to its national distribution on August 22. Camera 12 seating is available to the first 250 in attendance.
"When the Game Stands Tall" is based on the book written by former Contra Costa Times sportswriter Neil Hayes and produced by Sony Pictures.
The Camera Cinemas is located at 201 S. 2nd Street in downtown San Jose, two blocks from the San José State University main campus. Parking is available in nearby city of San José garages.
