"The results don't show how much better we got as a team during these matches," said Spartan head coach Jolene Shepardson. "We are getting better and executing our game plans.

"We are not satisfied with the results, but we are proud that we came here and battled each match. Our opponents were impressed with our energy and our fight to never give up."

San José State opens the home portion of the 2014 schedule on Thursday, September 4, with a non-conference match against Saint Mary's at Spartan Gym beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $5 for adults and youth 12 and under for $3.

"This team creates a lot of energy on the court and are fun to watch. I hope our fans come to Thursday's match to see us," said Shepardson.

One note for Thursday - there is a new entrance for Spartan Gym after the building renovations and only one easy access due to ongoing construction. Fans parking in the Fourth Street/West Parking lot should exit the garage and follow Fourth Street north past the gym and enter campus between the YUH and Washington Square buildings. Signs will be posted to direct fans to our new entrance.
